You better check out Day Shift (vampires)

"Day Shift" is a new vampire hunting movie starring Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco. The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds fun, but can director J.J. Perry deliver?

Jamie Foxx's opening scene in Day Shift is an action sequence that sees him shotgun blasting an old lady who turns to be a Vampire. It then leads into a nuts fight between the pair that is so much fun. I feel like the movie really has fun with this kind of rag-doll physics in its action scenes, making those sequences pop in a way that a lot of the Netflix action movies (or action blockbusters these days) don't. When watching scenes like this it's easy to forget the old saying that "action speaks louder then words". However, I believe part of what makes "Day Shift so successful is its ability to combine dialogue and action to advance the plot and character development. Jamie Foxx's vampire-killing scene ends with him having a funny and dry conversation about how he thought she would turn into a bat or some other creature. It's moments like this that help to elevate "Day Shift" above other similar movies.

Day Shift, is the movie that makes you feel so bad you're actually enjoying it. It is so obvious what they were trying, yet it fails so miserably. The acting is terrible, the dialogue is stilted, the plot is confusing. But somehow, I found myself enjoying it. Maybe it's my obsession with vampire movies, maybe (read more) it's just because I like watching bad movies. Day Shift was great. Although it's not a great film, it's still a lot fun. This is all I expect from a movie like that.

Day Shift is a mixed film. There are some great action scenes and fun characters (the brothers and Seth), but the villain is terrible and there are a lot more mediocre characters. However, that makes Day Shift even more enjoyable. It seemed like there were missing scenes that were not cut. Bud's neighbor acts as if they are friends even though she had only 3 minutes of screentime before the final scene. Bud made prank phone calls while working at the gas station, which was probably the best scene in the movie. It was hilarious and I enjoyed watching it. However, the movie didn't end as well. Day Shift is, in general, a mixed bag. There are parts that are fantastic and others that are horrible. But if you're looking for a few laughs, you could do worse than this movie.

Snoop Dogg almost got lost in my thoughts. He's fantastic in Day Shift. He makes the movie worthwhile. His comedy is great and he's funny. He is so natural in this role. It's as if he was made for the role.
